An introduction to the Statistical Hadronization Model
نویسنده
چکیده
In these lectures I review the foundations and the applications of the statistical hadronization model to elementary and relativistic heavy ion collisions. The role of strangeness production and the general interpretation of results is addressed. Lectures given at the 4th edition of the school Quark-Gluon Plasma and Heavy Ion Collisions : past, present, future Torino (Italy), 8-14 December 2008

A comparison of statistical hadronization models
We investigate the sensitivity of fits of hadron spectra produced in heavy ion collisions to the choice of statistical hadronization model. We start by giving an overview of statistical model ambiguities, and what they tell us about freeze-out dynamics. We then use Montecarlo generated data to determine sensitivity to model choice. We fit the statistical hadronization models under consideration...
متن کاملHeavy Flavor Hadrons in Statistical Hadronization of Strangeness-rich QGP
We study b, c quark hadronization from QGP. We obtain the yields of charm and bottom flavored hadrons within the statistical hadronization model. The important novel feature of this study is that we take into account the high strangeness and entropy content of QGP, conserving strangeness and entropy yields at hadronization. متن کاملCharmonium from Statistical Hadronization of Heavy Quarks – a Probe for Deconfinement in the Quark-Gluon Plasma
We review the statistical hadronization picture for charmonium production in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions. Our starting point is a brief reminder of the status of the thermal model description of hadron production at high energy. Within this framework an excellent account is achieved of all data for hadrons built of (u,d,s) valence quarks using temperature, baryo-chemical potential and ...
متن کاملStatistical Hadronization of Charm in Heavy Ion Collisions
Production of open and hidden charm hadrons in heavy ion collisions is considered within the statistical coalescence model (SCM). Charmed quark-antiquark pairs are assumed to be created at the initial stage of the reaction in hard parton collisions. The number of these pairs is conserved during the evolution of the system. At hadronization, the charmed (anti)quarks are distributed among open an...
متن کاملHadronization Revisited: the Dynamics behind Hadro-chemical Equilibrium
The multiplicities of hadronic species, from pions to omega hyperons created both in elementary, and in highly relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions, are known to exhibit a pattern that is very well reproduced within the framework of the statistical model as applied, in its canonical form, to the former class of reactions, and in the grand canonical version to the latter. To understand the or...
